Clean & Boost® is an aqueous cleanser that has been designed to remove contaminants from the surface of a tooth prior to bonding. These contaminants include such things as: tooth debris, temporary cement, bacteria, blood, saliva, hand piece oil, imaging powder (used to create digital impressions for CEREC® restorations), etc.
Along with cleansing the surface, Clean & Boost® will also etch tooth surfaces to increase bond strengths of self-etch materials. Self-etch cements and many self-etch adhesives lack the ability to thoroughly prepare enamel. This lack of etching leads to staining of the margins, micro-leakage and accelerated marginal wear. Clean & Boost® properly prepares the enamel surface, resulting in improved long term results. While cleaning and etching, Clean & Boost® disinfects the surfaces being treated.

Clean & Boost®: Dentin and Enamel Cleanser

Removal of Imaging Powder
Imaging powder is titanium dioxide that, when applied to a tooth, allows digital cameras to identify surfaces and take digital impressions. Post imaging, this powder creates a challenge, in that; it must be completely removed prior to the final delivery of a restoration. In the past, it was thought that water was effective in cleansing the tooth after imaging. Unfortunately, water has not proven to be a sufficient cleanser and a residual layer of titanium dioxide remains unless further actions are taken. It has been proven clinically, that this residual layer can block dentin tubules and lead to numerous issues including sensitivity and debonds. Clean & Boost® uses a unique blend of ingredients that work together to lift and suspend the imaging powder in solution so it can be easily rinsed from the tooth surface. This added level of cleanliness provides an ideal surface for bonding.
Disinfects the Tooth Surface
Clean & Boost® is a disinfectant. While the contaminants are lifted from the surface, Clean & Boost® disinfects the tooth. This disinfecting of the surface helps to eliminate bacteria and reduces the opportunity for secondary caries.
Etches and Roughens the Enamel Surface
