Top Pro Tips to Improve Your Endodontic Skills and Outcomes
(Thursday Afternoon or Friday Morning Course - Hands-On Workshop)

@ Palais des congrés de Montréal, 1001 Place Jean-Paul Riopelle,
Montréal. QC H2Z 1H5, Canada
  | Speaker: Brett Gilbert, DDS

Confidence in endodontics is hard to achieve without strategies to help keep you safe and focused. We will discuss tips and tricks to help build efficiency while accessing and locating the maximum number of canals in each tooth. You will also learn instrumentation with two different predictable rotary filing systems. Through hands-on instruction, you will gain a better understanding of the concepts and skills. 3D imaging of root canal anatomy using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) allows us to be better clinicians and offer more effective treatments. This workshop is designed to focus on the treatment of root canals in 3D. The complex root canal system requires effective disinfection with irrigation. Efficient obturation is critical to seal these complex anatomical spaces effectively. This hands-on workshop includes activities such as instrumentation, ultrasonics, magnification, irrigation, obturation and reading CBCT volumes for endodontic cases.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about the latest armamentarium used to access, locate canals, instrument and
    debride root canal systems.
  • Practice the learning principles of rotary instrumentation using two different rotary systems.
  • Examine the anatomical and clinical necessity of chemical debridement of root canal systems
    with irrigation.
  • Practice 3D obturation of root canal systems with single-cone obturation techniques,
followed by placement of an effective coronal seal.

Advanced Endodontic Techniques Workshop - Calcification, Separated Instrument Removal, Managing MB2 and More
(Friday Afternoon Course - Participation)

KOL - Brett Gilbert, DDS@ Palais des congrés de Montréal, 1001 Place Jean-Paul Riopelle,
Montréal. QC H2Z 1H5, Canada
  | Speaker: Brett Gilbert, DDS

Managing complicated endodontic cases can present a great challenge to any clinician. Calcified canals are difficult to manage, but, with proper technique, can be cleaned and shaped with predictability. Separation of instruments happens, creating a stressful and potentially damaging outcome. Utilizing modern techniques and armamentaria can help to successfully retrieve a separated instrument. Locating the second mesiobuccal canal (MB2) is challenging, but, after learning more about anatomy and using the right instruments, is achievable. Participants will learn perforation prevention and repair techniques. This hands-on workshop will allow each participant to learn and gain proficiency in advanced endodontic techniques and skills.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to identify and negotiate calcified canal structures using modern armamentaria.
  • Practice removal of separated instruments to mimic the challenges encountered by iatrogenic separation of files during endodontic treatment.
  • Learn about MB2 anatomy and anatomical cues of location, and practice locating and effectively instrumenting these structures using 3D-printed tooth anatomy.
  • Understand how to prevent perforation of tooth structure, and learn techniques and materials to successfully repair these iatrogenic errors.
